  • Bracknell Forest Homes is a housing association which owns and manages around 5,600 rented homes, including 400 sheltered housing flats, as well as 1,100 leaseholder properties. It was set up in February 2008 following the successful ballot of tenants and leaseholders to transfer homes from Bracknell Forest Council.

    Bracknell is a new town with both urban and rural housing estates. The majority of homes managed were built between the 1950s and 1960s. 

  • Project Overview

  • Bracknell Forest Homes has delivered a £61 million, five-year major works programme. This has improved many homes to the Bracknell Forest Standard, which is a standard customers asked for. It exceeds the Government's basic Decent Homes Standard.

    As part of the scheme 3,740 kitchens have been renewed all of which have been supplied by Premiere kitchens throughout the five year programme.

  • Main Contractor

  • Three contractors were appointed to carry out the work - Wates, Mitie and Mears. All three have extensive expertise and experience of working within the social housing sector and have collaborated with Premiere Kitchens on many schemes nationwide.

    Working with all three contractors on the same scheme required working closely with both the client and contractors to ensure continuity across all delivery streams. We established a great working relationship with the teams and this allowed us to complete the scheme with a high level of quality and a great deal of satisfaction from the tenants.

  • Timescales

  • The initial five-year programme began in 2008 and was completed in March 2013. However, Bracknell Forest are continuing to renew kitchens within their homes at a reduced rate per year within the new scheme for years 2013-2016.
