• Trainee or Part-Qualified Maintenance Engineer
  • Reports to: Supply Chain & Operations Manager

    Overview of the role

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of our Engineering team, which plays a vital role in maintaining and proactively improving our capabilities.

    This role will be full-time, working on a rotational shift pattern of 6am-2pm, 8am-4pm and 2pm-10pm. You will also be required to be available for call-outs on a rotational basis.

    Main duties:
    Attend and repair breakdowns on machines and equipment
    Carry out regular checks and servicing on a regular planned schedule
    Repair and fit any parts on the machines on a scheduled and breakdown basis
    Assist with machinery and equipment installations
    Assist with mechanical and electrical improvements to plant and equipment
    Clean and assist in cleaning machine glue pots
    Provide accurate information and regular progress updates as required by management and internal customers
    Undertake such duties considered essential for the effective operation of the factory i.e. lighting/outside gates
    Assist with ordering spare parts and accessories for machinery
    Fill in any relevant paperwork for jobs carried out and parts removed from stock
    Work and coordinate with outside contractors
    Work to health and safety standards & safe systems of work as set out by Premiere Kitchens
    Assist with development of machine operators
    Assist production with any C.I work that may be required

    Key Performance Indicators:

    Machine uptime
    Service schedules
    Average breakdown time

    What we are looking for:

    The right person for this role will have a logical approach to problem-solving, be flexible with working hours to ensure our machines are always up and running and have a keen interest in continuous improvement.

    You may be a part-qualified engineer with 1-2 years’ experience or someone who is looking for their first engineering role. Either way, you should be able to demonstrate a passion for engineering and practical experience from a workplace, qualification or hobby. Depending on the right candidate, this role may be designed as an Apprenticeship, enabling you to gain an NVQ alongside practical work experience.
